Oberoi group has decided take over management of the spa operations in their hotels. Until a few weeks ago, all of BSE-listed East India Hotels Ltd’s spa operations were managed by the Singapore-headquartered spa specialist company Banyan Tree Spa. That arrangement has been discontinued and the Indian luxury hotel chain’s spa facilities will now be managed in-house.
Senior company officials said Oberoi group had 'reached critical mass' and could manage their own spas now. Spas at the Trident will be branded Trident Spa and the spa in the luxury brand will most likely be branded The Oberoi Spa. The company will to re-open the Mumbai hotel in two weeks, followed by The Oberoi in Gurgaon in September-October.
