Q & A with Stephanie Curtis, cofounder of Buff Her House of Exfoliation

Stephanie CurtisHow many years have you been involved in the spa industry?

I've been working in the spa and skincare industry for three years.

What was the path that led you into the spa industry?

The path that led me into the spa and skincare industry was my love of skincare and the ability to heal the skin using all-natural and organic products. I've always been intrigued by what nature can do.

What are the most rewarding parts of being in the spa industry?

I love educating women on how they can heal and replenish their skin by using food. It’s a great feeling to see the look on someone’s face when you tell him or her that bananas are good for eczema and strawberries, which have natural salicylic acid in them, are great for the occasional breakout.

What is your proudest accomplishment?

My proudest accomplishment is getting to work side by side with each other as sisters. We are extremely close, and it’s fun building our company together. It's always been a dream of ours to start a skincare line that is unique and different.

Where do you think the industry is heading?

On a national and international level, I think the industry is becoming more focused on natural and organic skincare therapies. The consumer is becoming more conscious of what they consume and put on their skin.

What’s your favorite skincare ingredient?

I love rice for its exfoliating properties.

Tell us two things about yourselves we don’t know.

Two things that you might not know about me is that I am a military brat, and I love picking the berries that go into our exfoliating food facial scrubs.

If you could work in any other profession in the world, what would you be?

If I could work in any other profession, I would be an actress.

What’s the best advice you’ve received as sisters?

The best advice I've ever received—and that I live by—is to keep God first and stay humble.
