Behind the Original Microdermabrasion Wand That Changed the Esthetics Game

Altair Instruments has been a medical device manufacturer for nearly 40 years, with expertise in Class I, II, and III products. In 1999, the brand introduced the first crystal-free skin exfoliation called NewApeel, a diamond-tipped facial wand that offers a safe alternative to clearing away dead skin and surface imperfections without utilizing plastic or crystal. Over the last 20 years, Altair has established itself in the esthetics community with the introduction of its four patented DiamondTome microdermabrasion wands which are customizable and lead to enhanced results with no downtime.

At the recent SPATEC by American Spa event in Miami last May, American Spa executive editor Heather Mikesell got to chat with Altair Instruments president Brenda Acosta about what's new with DiamondTome, how the brand has stayed relevant in the industry over the years, the best tips for microdermabrasion, and more. Check out the interview between these two powerful women in wellness below.
