Dangerous Curves Ahead

We talked about the rising trend of fanny facials earlier this summer, a popular option for beachbound clients. Backsides may be covered up for the next few months, but that doesn't mean attention has shifted elsewhere. Thanks to the viral images from the latest Kim Kardashian photo shoot, Jennifer Lopez and Iggy Azalea's music video for "Booty," and more, women are more focused than ever on achieving a bountiful behind. The phenomenon crosses cultures and oceans, too; in Europe women are opting to flaunt a full rear end over other assets.

Your spa can cash in on the booty business with more than fanny treatments. Fitness classes targeting the glutes can give women a healthy way to build up a natural, curvier derriere. However, some women are even willing to go under the knife for a boost. A Brazilian butt lift, in which fat is sucked from a patient's stomach, love handles, or back and put into their buttocks and hips, is increasingly popular in the U.S. This type of surgery, along with buttock implants, was the fastest-growing plastic surgery last year, with more than 11,000 procedures, up 58 percent from 2012, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS).
