SpaEquip, a leading supplier of spa equipment, announced the opening of its wholly-owned subsidiary in China, SpaEquip Co. Ltd. Based in Shanghai, the company will sell SpaEquip’s complete line of equipment and supplies to spas throughout China. “Our customers had been asking us to establish a presence in China for several years,” says Ed Johnson, president of SpaEquip. “China continues to be a booming market for new hotel construction, and has become the largest market for new spa equipment in the world.” The company has been one of the preferred sources for resort spas in China. “While continuing to import best-in-class products from other parts of the world into China, our expanded presence will also allow us to source more outstanding China-made products and offer them to our customers worldwide,” says Johnson. Heading the Shanghai venture is Michael Gao, as general manager, who has previously worked for Shanghai Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceuticals and Adidas Group Greater China, where he was responsible for sales of imported products. “I am very excited to be part of SpaEquip, with its international reach and single source capability for spas,” says Gao. “I look forward to providing great customer service along with world-class products to our customers in greater China. This industry has such great people, and I am learning to love the world of spa.” Additionally, SpaEquip is translating product names, descriptions, and other pertinent information into the Chinese language.
