Aman Annouces Third Resort and Spa in Japan

Aman has announced the opening of its third resort in Kyoto, Japan, Aman Kyoto, scheduled to open in November 2019. Located in a hidden garden, the resort features 24 guest rooms and two two-bedroom villas. It is close to the Golden Pavilion and looks to provide an authentic Kyoto sanctuary surrounded by nature.

The resort aims to celebrate the traditions of Japan, which can be seen through its culinary offerings as well as the spa experiences that will be offered at Aman Spa.

Nearby Aman Kyoto is natural spring water, which is considered a rarity in the region. The Aman Spa has turned that into one of its central philosophies by incorporating traditional onsen (or hot spring) bathing facilities that utilize water from the local spring to deliver the purest form of healing and relaxation. Guests will also be able to take advantage of a variety of treatments that derive from Japan’s natural apothecary. Some treatments will feature Kyoto green tea, Tanba kuromame (black beans), local sake, cold-pressed tsubaki (camellia) oil, and Kyoto silk cocoon.

"Following on from the success of Aman Tokyo and Amanemu, Aman Kyoto will add another distinctive facet to our continued journey–and commitment–to Japan," says Vladislav Doronin, chairman and CEO of Aman. "Aman Kyoto will embody the true spirit of Aman, blending our profound respect for nature with adherence to simple, yet striking, principles of aesthetics and structure, masterfully brought to life by the late Kerry Hill and his team. We look forward to unveiling the many dimensions of Kyoto through the eyes of Aman and sharing the secrets of our enchanting garden."
