Glam Getaway

For many New Yorkers, summer is  synonymous with an escape to the Hamptons, a tony beach community on the South Fork of Long Island. Home to some of the most expensive residential homes in the U.S., the Hamptons is a haven for those who enjoy the good things in life. This summer, that now includes plenty of pampering at Salon Bar, a luxurious new seasonal day spa created by beauty maven Christiana Savescu.

Savescu teamed with C&C Design partners Christopher Dubs and Carolina Ramirez to create the sophisticated spa. It features soft lighting, plush furnishings including overstuffed hooded manicure chairs, and images of beauty icons from around the world to remind guests that “everyone can be their own beauty icon,” says Savescu. “Christopher and Carolina took this concept and transformed a previously rundown office space and created a unique, fresh, and glamorous image for Salon Bar.”

The 2,000-square-foot space features treatment rooms, a full-service hair salon, and nail and pedicure stations. Glamorous black-and-white shots of classic Hollywood stars adorn the walls in each room, with Marilyn Monroe in the facial room, Lana Turner in the body treatment room, and Sophia Loren and Elizabeth Taylor in the hair suite. “The designer also created a wonderful reception entrance, with a 30-foot octagon gold-gilded ceiling with a 10-foot crystal chandelier,” says Savescu.

A central component of the spa is a silver-accented custom-wood salon bar with leather bar stools. “It is a pivotal location for customers to capture the vibrant energy of the space while having a quick refreshment,” says Savescu. “The central bar is also where they can shop and learn about new products and services from a beauty consultant.”

Savescu says her intent was to create a place where customers can socialize and meet other Hamptonites while preparing for a special day at the beach or celebrity charity event. As such, she offers a variety of services designed to meet all their needs. Clients looking for more intensive anti-aging treatments can opt for procedures like Botox, fillers, and laser treatments, which are performed by her husband, Napoleon Savescu, M.D. Other services include anti-cellulite procedures; 24K gold facials and eye treatments; Swedish, deep-tissue, and hot stone massages; deep-conditioning and healthy straightening hair treatments; chocolate, wine, and seaweed body wraps; cuts and hair color offerings; manicures and pedicures; and waxing.

There truly is something for everyone. Salon Bar caters to groups with special packages and refreshments brought in from local specialty stores. Brides can partake in the Full Day of Beauty ($500, 4 hours), which begins with a wax followed by a chocolate body wrap and an oxygen facial, a spray tan, a manicure and pedicure, an updo or style, and a makeup application. Kids can enjoy the Prince ($80, 45 minutes) and Princess ($80, 45 minutes) packages for children—princes receive a haircut or style and a temporary tattoo, while princesses get a blowout or style, a manicure and pedicure, and a light makeup application. The Signature Men’s ($225, 60 minutes) styling package includes a facial, a manicure, and a pedicure.

To help clients get the most out of their treatments, Savescu, a longtime cosmetologist and beauty expert, took great care in selecting product lines. Bio France Lab’s all-natural masks and bath and body products were selected because of their purity. Celmonze Paris’s Cellift Active and ReVIVE Instant Vitality lines were chosen for superior skin therapy results, and the Temptu airbrush system was selected for makeup applications because of the flawless and natural-looking results. The selection of the team, who services at least 20 clients daily, was equally well-thought-out and consists of 10 full-time staff members, two estheticians, one makeup artist/spray-tan technician, and a rotating staff of nail technicians who are experienced in performing gel manicures, paraffin services, and anti-aging hand treatments.

Though only open for the summer, the spa’s success has secured Savescu’s plans to reopen again next season. After all, “clients are made to feel as if they are in their own Hamptons estate,” says Savescu, and they have already proven that they are right at home at Salon Bar.
