Napa Valley's Spa at Carneros Unveils $3.5 Million Renovation

Carneros Resort and Spa (Napa Valley, CA) has reopened the doors to its 28-acre property following its recent $3.5 million renovation. The revamp transformed the 5,919-square-foot spa with a new entrance, guest reception area, retail space, expanded relaxation area, and newly-designed treatment rooms and suites.

Featuring nine indoor treatment rooms, a new couple’s suite, and a specialty studio suite, each treatment room is outfitted with new light wood flooring, massage tables, furnishings, and equipment. Designed by Oakland-based firm Nina Chiappa Interiors and design firm TLCD Architecture, the Spa at Carneros's new architectural elements reflect a sophisticated and modern farmhouse design. “We exposed the center tower and support beams to establish a focal architectural element that incorporates the existing footprint of the building and reinforces the modern farmhouse theme,” says Nina Chiappa, designer of the project. “Every element from the architectural aspect to the finish, furniture and fabric are inter-related.”

The redefined co-ed relaxation area includes a large indoor space which flows into an outdoor deck. Indoors, the area features a fireplace, built-in book shelves, and lounge furniture, while the outdoor deck is decorated with a wisteria covered trellis, a water feature, and chaise lounge chairs. A new lighting program installed creates unique lighting for each area of the spa, minimalizing lighting in individual treatment rooms while enhancing the natural lighting of the relaxation area.

A new couple’s suite features a private outdoor deck in addition to a soaking tub and solarium shower, while the specialty studio suite offers its own sauna, an indoor shower, and private covered porch. Both the women’s and men’s locker rooms have been reconfigured to feature new oak wood lockers, complemented by pebble shower floors, steam rooms, and indoor and outdoor showers that utilize sliding barn doors and etched privacy glass.

“We are constantly striving to enhance the guest experience at Carneros Resort and Spa and offer the highest quality amenities in Napa Valley,” says Edward Costa, managing director of the resort. “The spa renovations reflect the resort coming full circle since its rebranding and renovations in 2016 and is the last piece to establishing the property’s identity as a destination resort.”

The renovation comes complete with a redesign of the spa’s treatment menu. The new treatments showcase ingredients inspired by the local wine country and Carneros Resort and Spa’s half-acre culinary garden. The new Body Botany massage begins with an antioxidant rich body scrub and a choice of ingredients and corresponding benefits, including an olive leaf and rosemary scrub, a coffee, lemon and shea butter scrub; and a hibiscus and blood orange scrub. The Tune Me Up tri-sensory experience guides guests through an infrared sauna, a DIY scrub made from local ingredients, and relaxation in an anti-gravity chair in the specialty studio.
