Sublime Serenity

Spa at L’AubergeNicknamed the Day Hike Capital of America, Sedona, AZ, is a hiker’s paradise, with more than 100 trails throughout the city. Gorgeous red sandstone formations, known as the Red Rocks of Sedona, create the perfect backdrop for hiking and other outdoor activities. These red rocks also serve as a focal point for guests staying at L’Auberge de Sedona, as does Oak Creek, which runs directly behind the hotel. Guests can enjoy the beautiful rocks and soothing sounds of the creek while walking throughout the property, dining alfresco, or relaxing during a creekside massage offered at the Spa at L’Auberge de Sedona.

Creekside services help guests connect with nature, but spa-goers who prefer to indulge in treatments indoors can choose from a variety of skin and body services inside the newly expanded and renovated 2,500-square-foot spa. “Our clientele ranges from hotel guests visiting Sedona to enjoy the outdoor activities to guests who visit for pure relaxation,” says spa director Maria De Simone. “We also have some guests who come to Sedona for the purpose of healing or finding balance.” While healing and balance can be found in a number of places in Sedona, which is known for its various vortices, it can also be found at the spa. “Our treatments are designed to heal and restore not only our guests’ physical wellbeing but also attend to their spiritual energy,” says De Simone.

Because of the experience, training, and background of its 21 employees, the spa is able to offer a wide range of options for guests, from traditional massage, facials, and body treatments to holistic services and energy work. “Our employees are true healers and are fully committed to our guests’ wellbeing,” says De Simone.

Massage is most requested at the spa, as guests are typically looking to soothe muscles and unwind after a day of hiking or sightseeing. Popular massage options include traditional techniques like Swedish ($130, 60 minutes; $190, 90 minutes) and Deep Tissue ($140, 60 minutes; $200, 90 minutes), as well as signature services like the Aroma Stone ($165, 60 minutes; $240, 90 minutes) massage, which uses warm basalt river rocks to create a deep relaxation and sensory experience. A Holistic ($190, 90 minutes) massage is ideal for guests looking to experience the healing benefits of energy work and includes a combination of therapeutic massage and energy work to create balance, both emotional and physical.

Spa at L’AubergeAccording to De Simone, facials are a harder sell at the spa. To entice guests to try one, like the Customized Deep Cleansing Facial ($130, 60 minutes), the spa offers guests a complimentary upgrade when they book. In addition, the spa’s employees, including front desk coordinators, are educated in all menu options to cross-sell treatments and ensure guests have a rewarding experience. To further enhance their time at the spa, the team also encourages guests to unwind pre- and post-treatment in the intimate relaxation room and in the separate men’s and women’s steam rooms.

The recent renovations have attracted many guests and locals to the spa, and with a new spa menu launching soon, that number is sure to grow. The new menu will include a number of new treatments, including a separate section for in-room services to enhance the guest experience in the privacy of their guest room. “Our cottages offer a perfect amount of space to truly bring a complete sense of spa to the in-room experience,” she says.

In addition to releasing a new menu, De Simone intends to expand the spa’s retail offerings. “Because we are the hotel’s retail outlet, we plan on bringing in more varieties of retail, including logo wear and mementos that will create reminders for our guests of the time they spent with us,” she says. While mementos serve as physical reminders, the mind, body, and spiritual healing many guests experience after their visit to Sedona and the Spa at L’Auberge, in particular, are sure to be feelings that will be forever etched in their minds.
