Foxwoods Resort Casino, the largest resort casino in North America, announced the appointment of Stella Gustafsson to spa director at The Norwich Spa at Foxwoods. Gustafsson, who brings years of professional experience in the hospitality and health and wellness industries to the spa, is a native of Iceland. She has overseen spa and wellness programs at luxury properties in the U.S., including the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club (FL), Crystal Mountain Resort (Michigan), and PGA National Resort and Spa (Palm Beach, FL). Most recently, she was director of the Elemis Spa at Mohegan Sun (Uncasville, CT). In addition to overseeing operations and developing new programming at multiple spa facilities, Gustafsson gained experience training and educating spa professionals at Spa Academia (Iceland). “I believe in the saying health is wealth,” says Gustafsson. “Spa treatments should be considered essential to personal maintenance and overall mind and body well-being. We only get one body and we should do our best to take care of it. I am excited to join this team of professionals at The Norwich Spa at Foxwoods, who also embrace this philosophy.” Gustafsson also offers expert knowledge of the hospitality industry gained during years of professional practice and as an alumnus of Johnson & Wales University’s Hospitality Administration and International Business MBA programs. “The addition of Gustafsson to the leadership team at The Norwich Spa further cements Foxwoods’ reputation as the region’s premier resort and entertainment destination,” says John O’Shaughnessy, the spa’s general manager. “We believe that Stella’s health-focused approach to spa programs, and her impressive professional background, will make The Norwich Spa a better resource for our patrons than ever.”
