Breathe Easy

Recently I had the pleasure of attending Aveda's Stress-Fix Wellness Workshop, a morning of relaxation tips and tricks with the Stress-Fix line. I enjoyed learning about the extensive process behind selecting essential oils to reduce stress and how to get the most benefits when using them. Here are two quick rituals I experienced that are well worth sharing with clients or indulging in yourself when life gets hectic.

Just Breathe—Roll Stress-Fix Concentrate onto inner wrists and bring them to your nose, breathing in the scent for 10 seconds. For deeper relaxation do alternate nostril breathing by placing index and middle finger of the same hand between the eyebrows. Using your thumb, close your right nostril and inhale through your left, then use your ring finger to close your left nostril and exhale through your right. Inhale through your right nostril, then close your right nostril and exhale through your left. Repeat for 1 to 10 minutes with eyes closed.

Give Your Hands a Break—Release tension caused by typing and texting by smoothing Stress-Fix Body Creme or Body Lotion on hands and forearms before using your thumb to massage the muscular area at the base of your other thumb. Press and hold any tense areas. Massage your inner forearm with your thumb, moving from wrist to elbow and holding any tense areas. Further reduce muscle tension by flexing and extending the wrist while pressing. Repeat on other hand and forearm for a total of up to 2 minutes.

Here, essences of lavender, lavandin, and clary sage help relieve feelings of stress. What scents do you turn to to help clients find calm?
