To say the nail salon industry has been making headlines is an understatement. After the New York Times expose of nail salons throughout the New York City area shocked us all, it’s become a main topic of conversation. Gov. Andrew Cuomo has created emergency measures to ensure the safety and health of salons and manicurists, and even the U.S. Supreme Court is weighing in on nailcare. Though not directly related to the nail salon article, the U.S. Supreme Court recently upheld an Arizona ruling that pedicures delivered by garra rufa fish are an unsafe practice. Though it’s not a nationwide ban, it’s an interesting perspective of the exfoliation alternative that has gained a following around the world.
