Gratitude Challenge

I want to wish everyone a thankful Thanksgiving this year! My cousin shared this fitting sentiment this week and I wholeheartedly agree. As much as we’d like to be full of holiday cheer on cue, life and work can be unpredictable and get in the way. This is especially true in the spa and hospitality industry that gets into high gear this time of year. In the midst of all this, we can all choose thankfulness and see where that leads. Gratitude definitely cheers me up and here are a few things the American Spa team is thankful for this year:

  • “I’m thankful for my beautiful family, most notably its most recent addition. My son, Flynn, turned one in September and has given my husband and me a year of unforgettable happiness and smiles. I never realized I could love one little person so much.”—Julie Keller Callaghan, editor-in-chief/publisher
  • “While I am eternally grateful for my wonderful friends and family, I’m also really thankful for my health. In the past couple of years, I’ve seen many of my nearest and dearest struggle with unexpected health issues. Watching them battle back from such challenges reminds me never to take my health and wellbeing for granted.”—Heather Mikesell, executive editor
  • “I’m thankful for my wonderful husband, whom I just married over Labor Day, and our two sweet guinea pigs, Gus and Gary.”—Carolyn Curtis, art director
  • “I’m thankful for my husband and our first adventure-filled year of married life together.”—Jennifer Barnes, associate editor
  • “I am thankful for my nephew Tyler, who serenades my life with joy every day. Watching him grow over the past year has been the most enriching and educational experience.”—Jessica Morrobel, editorial and sales coordinator
  • “I am thankful for my family, for my husband for his continued support and encouragement, and for my three little kiddies who show their mummy unconditional love no matter how busy life gets!”—Lucy Hugo, eastern regional account manager
  • “I am thankful for the friends and family who help me juggle the balancing act of life as a working parent—it takes a village!”—Kristina Panter, director, integrated media sales, western region
