Hair Raising Masks

Nutritious kitchen staples aren't just part of a balanced diet, they're key to a smart beauty routine. Your hair can benefit from whole food concoctions, and this time of year stressed tresses can use as much extra help as they can get. Time-pressed clients can whip up these delectable recipes from Burke Williams Day Spa (multiple locations in California) to solve any and all hair woes so hair is party perfect.

 

For unruly, curly hair

Ingredients:
½ ripe banana
2 tbsps of raw honey
3 drops of almond oil

Blend banana, honey and almond oil until smooth. Apply to hair and don a shower cap. Let sit for 20 minutes and rinse.

 

For dry, limp hair

Ingredients:
3 ripe avocados
5 drops of lemon juice
3 tbsps of olive oil
3 tbsps of raw honey
handful of rose petals
1 cup of millet flour

Marinate rose petals in olive oil overnight. Mash the avocados in a mixing bowl until smooth. Strain oil through sieve and blend with the avocado. Add lemon juice, honey and flour. Blend all ingredients into a paste, apply to hair and let sit for 15 minutes. Shampoo and condition as usual. 

For split ends

Ingredients:
2 eggs
1 cup of milk
5 drops of lemon juice
2 tbsps of olive oil

Separate the yolks from the egg whites. Discard the whites and beat the yolks until smooth. Add milk, lemon juice and olive oil. Whisk together with a beater and apply the mixture to hair. Let sit for 15 minutes and shampoo and condition as usual.

For oily hair

Ingredients:
½ cup of full fat yogurt
1 tsp of apple cider vinegar
1 tsp of raw honey

Mix all ingredients together until smooth. Apply to hair and let sit for ten minutes. Rinse.
