Northern Michigan Spas Introduce Wine & Spa Tour

Last month, I returned to my roots with a visit to northern Michigan, where I spent many happy summers back in the day. While there, I had a chance to visit The Spa at Boyne Highlands (Harbor Springs, MI), Spa Grand Traverse at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa (Acme, MI), and Astor's Spa and Salon at the Grand Hotel (Mackinac Island, MI), and was happy to discover that the spa scene in northern Michigan is alive and well. In fact, a number of spas in northern Michigan have partnered together to create the Northern Michigan Spa Tour (NMST) to promote health and well-being. Each year, the organization hosts an annual fundraising event. This year, seven spas have partnered with Bowers Harbor Vineyards, Chateau Grand Traverse, and Peninsula Cellars for the Wine & Spa Tour ($30 in advance, $35 at the door) on Oct. 4. This evening of wine, food, and indulgent spa treatments will raise money for the Grand Traverse Area Women's Resource Center. Attendees will also be offered the chance to win a variety of raffle prizes and a grand prize of a night's stay and spa treatment at each resort and spa from the Northern Michigan Spa Tour. Throughout the week of Oct 8-14, participating spas will donate $5 from each 50-minute or longer spa treatment to the Women's Resource Center. For more info, check out NMST. And look to future issues of American Spa for more on northern Michigan's inviting spas.
