Pampering with Perks

Last week I had an indulgent facial experience matching the opulent hotel spa I visited. I realized there are many small details that elevate a good treatment into the realm of extraordinary. Here's a few noteworthy perks that came along with my BioRadiance Facial (starting at $225, 50 minutes; $340, 80 minutes) at The Spa at Mandarin Oriental New York.

  • My facialist carefully explained what to expect before the treatment began and each step of the service asked for my feedback and confirmation that I wanted the next part.
  • A hand and shoulder massage is more typical for facials, but the foot massage I received was pure bliss. It was true head-to-toe relaxation.
  • I had expressed how delicious I thought the signature tea was in the relaxation area and my esthetician provided the recipe so I can make it at home whenever I want.
