It is almost instinct for everyone to want to change as the season changes. A good foundation brush is an excellent item to have to create a new look using the HD collection, which creates a very natural, and yet sexy, look for spring.
What are must-have cosmetic items, and what can be dropped from a makeup routine? Must-have items include a good foundation brush, a good cream eyeliner, and a good lip gloss in clear and a soft natural pink hue. Items that can be disposed of include an old makeup bag that can be replaced with a new smaller makeup bag. Remember, “less is more” for a cleaner and less complicated look for spring.

What are the hot colors in cosmetics this spring? Tangerine is hot, hot, hot! Picked straight off the spring runways, tangerine can be used everywhere, from eyes to cheeks to lips. This spring, bold, ripe, and vivid colors are popular.
What looks will be popular this spring? This season’s looks really are destination driven. Bright, bold lips; warm, contoured cheeks; and highly defined eyes are perfect for after-work social events. For weekends outdoors, sheer, glossed lips in soft pastels; bronzed cheeks; and light, shimmering eyes create a natural, casual appeal.
What new product can’t you live without this season? Why? I can’t live without blush. It gives the whole makeup look a lift. I like to layer Your Name’s new Baked Blushes in the most beautiful shades of pinks and peaches over bronzer.
What is the best way to transition clients’ makeup from winter to spring?
Because red lips were big in the fall and are still popular for spring, bring a hint of tangerine into the mix to brighten up the look. My favorite way to incorporate this color is to layer a matte red lipstick with a tangerine-hued gloss on top.
What are must-have cosmetic items, and what can be dropped from a makeup routine? Spring is a time to lighten up. Use a lightweight powder foundation, like Your Name’s new Baked Hydrating Powder Foundation, instead of a heavier liquid, to let your clients’ natural glows come through.

What are the hot colors in cosmetics this spring? Luminous, metallic, nude, and muted are all terms that can describe what we’re seeing for spring 2012. We’re seeing some beautiful light pinks on the cheeks, lips, and eyes, as well as cool tones, such as aqua and silver, on the eyelids. Lips are softer and more nude, which is a dramatic change from the bright intense lips we saw last spring. Although bright is still in style, consumers will be relieved to have softer, more natural options.
What looks will be popular this spring? For the complexion, there’s a broad spectrum from completely matte to shiny and shimmery skin. Cream and liquid eyeshadows are becoming very popular, not only because of their luminosity but because of their longevity.
What new product can’t you live without this season? Why? Jane Iredale Eye Gloss is my go-to item for spring. It primes the lid and imparts color and luster at the same time. Pink Silk Eye Gloss is a new addition for spring and is lovely on the eyes, cheeks, or lips for a fresh, ethereal look all day.
What is the best way to transition clients’ makeup from winter to spring?
Everything is coming back to life, and color is emerging, which is what we are doing with our clients. We are waking their skin up with the moisture and freshness of Liquid Minerals, reviving their lips with our Just Kissed Lip Plumper, and giving them a natural glow with our new Rose Dawn Bronzer.
What are must-have cosmetic items, and what can be dropped from a makeup routine? For the Jane Iredale woman, we recommend a good foundation with SPF, such as Amazing Base, and concealer, such as Circle/Delete. These are staples that never go away. What we can drop are things that have broken or expired. Spring is the perfect time to go through a makeup kit and throw out old mascaras that have expired, replace rubber cushions on lash curlers, and rededicate to a brush-cleaning schedule.

We are still seeing smokey eyes on women who love to play with eye makeup, but for spring, we are seeing hints of color with a beautiful, calmer smokey eye, such as plum, lilac, peach, or green feathered into a perfect natural to dramatic smokey eye.
What looks will be popular this spring? Eyeliner on the lid is still a big hit. Pair it with a color palette of nude tones for a quick five-minute look. Color on lips in berry tones and coral complete all spring looks.

With very little time and energy, this one step can make eye color pop and the face look polished. Dark shades of blush and matte face powders can be dropped from a spring makeup routine. Spring is a time to lift and lighten, so store the dark shades of blush color and matte powders for another season.
