Spa-goers at Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort (San Luis Obispo, CA) have a secret to improving their golf game: yoga lessons. Sycamore has teamed up with the nearby Avila Beach Golf Resort to offer Yoga Fore Golf, a program that uses yoga postures to make clients more limber and focused before they set foot on the green. Participants in the program begin with a 90-minute yoga lesson designed to improve range of motion in the back, hips, neck, and shoulders to result in better alignment, posture, balance, muscle tone, and, ultimately, a better golf swing. "The majority of golfers suffer from inflexibility that interferes with a fundamentally sound swing," says instructor Tony Criscuolo. "A yoga session before golf instruction is the perfect preparation, as it warms and loosens the body and helps the mind focus clearly." —Lauren Taylor
