Willow Stream Spas, the award-winning signature spa brand of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, announces the launch of the Stay Active Rx program. As a leader in the spa industry, Willow Stream Spas are addressing the discomfort and challenges associated with recurring aches, pains and joint inflammation that effect spa-goers of all ages and levels of physical activity, offering a targeted spa menu to provide relief and re-energize.
'Willow Stream Spas are all about energy - living with abundant energy, enjoying life's benefits and staying active,' says Anne McCall Vice President Spas, Fairmont Raffles Hotels International. 'We wanted to address these conditions in depth and be a partner in providing relief, prevention and future flare ups for our spa guests.'
Aches, pains and muscle and joint inflammation can prevent otherwise active individuals from having the energy to pursue the activities they enjoy and can even inhibit daily function. Whether these issues are caused from a weekend 12-mile run, body aches associated with the demands of motherhood or more chronic conditions caused by stress or typical aging, the result can range from bothersome to debilitating.
With the Stay Active Rx spa menu, the expert Willow Stream spa therapists are able to address the concerns and needs of all guests. The new spa treatments provide instant and long-term relief through expert technique and effective new spa products developed for us by Kerstin Florian International, including the Organic Aromatherapy Ginger Body Oil.
Willow Stream Spas introduces advanced heat therapy to several Stay Active Rx back treatments using a unique heating pad on the treatment table which features far-infrared heat, negative ions and natural jade, which emits infrared heat that penetrates deep into the body as much as 2- to 3-inches below the skin. The deep penetrating infrared heat relieves pain, improves blood circulation, reduces tension and stress and improves flexibility.
The new Stay Active Rx spa menu is comprised of the following signature spa treatments and will include local specialties developed by each Willow Stream Spa location.
Relief Massage and Relief Rx Massage
The ultimate customized, medium to deep pressure massage, is designed for muscle and joint pain relief with a focus on tailoring to each guests specific needs. Kerstin Florian Remineralizing Crème and Organic Aromatherapy Ginger Body Oil are used throughout the treatment. The natural essentials oils of Ginger, with a long history for its warming, digestion-stimulating properties, along with Coriander and Eucalyptus, addresses fatigue, poor circulation and inflammation and sooth and calm muscle spasms, strains, cramps and aches and pains. Further customization will be included with adding cooling aids for swelling or inflammation, extra heat for stiffness or a combination.
An energizing treatment designed to relieve back soreness uses highly re-mineralizing Moor Mud applied to the back with a moist heat pad. As the heat soothes the back, the feet and scalp are luxuriously massaged. Once the mud is removed, a full back therapeutic massage is performed with shiatsu movements and pressure points using Kerstin Florian ginger oil and re-mineralizing body crème. A far- infrared heating pad is used at the beginning of this treatment to relax muscles before treatment work begins.
Total Body Recovery
Whether from arthritis, muscle pain, athletics or everyday stresses, a soak in a therapeutic hydrotherapy bath will melt away muscle and joint and pain, then a dual action warming and cooling deep massage treatment soothes stiffness and relieves muscle spasms while reducing inflammation, providing instant and longer-term relief. The Total Body Recovery treatment is customized in each Willow Stream Spa, drawing on local traditions, products or the energy of the location.
Local Specialty Treatments and Experiences
With over 20 locations existing or about to launch throughout the world, each Willow Stream Spa location will also offer local specialties that highlight the specific region to their Stay Active Rx spa menu.
For example, the Stay Active Rx spa menu at the Willow Stream Spa at the Fairmont Vancouver Pacific Rim will include Van Active treatments such as the Van Active Feet, a lower leg and foot treatment for runners, hikers or those constantly on their feet, that begins with an energizing exfoliation, followed by a cooling massage with rosemary, menthol, pine and lavender. The Van Active Hot Stone massage, combining handpicked stones warmed in water and aromatic Willow Stream Balance Oil creates a deep heat, while a therapeutic massage melts away stress and the Van Active Body, an invigorating metabolism-stimulating treatment focuses on muscles and joints, building vitality are also added to the menu.
The Golf Performance Massage will be offered on the Stay Active Rx menu at the Willow Stream Spa at the Fairmont Banff Springs and the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess.
