Fall Travel Trends According to VisitorsCoverage

According to global travel insurance marketplace VisitorsCoverage, fall travel trends include:

  • Revenge Travel: This fall, travelers will continue to make up for lost time. Expect to see all of the elaborate travel plans that were dreamed up during the COVID-19 pandemic come to fruition, especially following eased entry restrictions for long-haul destinations including Asia and Australia.
  • Budget-friendly Travel: On the opposite end of the spectrum, local and interstate trips will become increasingly popular as wanderlust rises along with inflation, gas prices, and airfare. Those who have the travel bug but are not ready to splurge or venture far, are still planning trips to local destinations and neighboring states.
  • Immersive Experiences: Travelers will plan culturally immersive travel experiences including mindful travel and ecotourism. Travelers are choosing to more authentically experience the places they visit this fall.
  • Business Travel: As the pandemic wanes, more businesses are logging off of Zoom and opting instead to send employees to in-person conferences, expos, and meetings.
  • Demand for Flexibility & Customization: The demand for flexibility that has come about as a result of canceled flights and luggage issues will lead to travelers purchasing more travel insurance with add-on coverage like Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) or Interruption For Any Reason (IFAR) that will allow them to tailor their insurance needs to their trip plans.

“While we’re seeing increasing demand and desire for travel, the chaos of cancellations and luggage loss that marked summer travel will likely stay with us for the rest of the year," says Rajeev Shrivastava, CEO of VisitorsCoverage. "As these trends suggest, people aren’t deterred from traveling. However, they are looking at the different ways in which they can protect themselves and their trip investment.”
