UC Irvine Extension Offers Seminar at IECSC

The University of California, Irvine Extension offers a seminar given by course instructor Peter Anderson titled, 'Introduction to Spa and Hospitality Operations, at the International Esthetics, Cosmetics and Spa Conference on October 4-5. The seminar will take place both days from 9 to 12 p.m. in Orlando, Fla.

'This course is for spa owners, directors, and therapists wanting to gain an understanding of the general operational and administrative procedures in various types of spas from freestanding day spas to destination and resort spas,' said course instructor Peter Anderson, ISHC and expert consultant to the spa industry. 'Participants will develop an understanding of unique sensitivities required in managing and operating in the increasingly lucrative and complex spa industry.'

Participants taking this seminar will learn conceptual skills in many of the aspects of business planning and development required to open a spa, manage day-to-day operations, and position the spa for future growth. They will also develop strategic planning skills to design a comprehensive business model and marketing plan based upon industry analysis and targeted market research. Further, participants will learn how to develop an integrated service culture that supports profitability, employee retention, and high customer loyalty. Topics include:

-- Inventory control,
-- Soft ware selection and client file management,
-- Standard procedures.

Seminar instructor Peter Anderson is CEO of Anderson and Associates and is a graduate of Cornell University's Hotel School. Anderson specializes in spa market and financial analysis, wellness trends, and emerging healing modalities. In addition to providing services related to financial management and market analysis, he is also a Reiki Master. Anderson has also lectured on energy medicine and therapeutic touch modalities internationally.
