Aveda Commits to Raising $5 Million for Clean Water

Aveda is committed to raising $5 million in April for clean water. Earth Month at Aveda is an annual fundraising campaign that relies on the ingenuity and generosity of Aveda beauty professionals, customers, and corporate employees in more than 30 countries. The campaign has raised more than $26 million for environmental causes since its inception in 1999, of which more than $20 million have been directed to support hundreds of clean water projects on six continents since 2007. Aveda spas, salons, Experience Center retail stores, Institutes, and corporate offices around the world organize thousands of fundraisers throughout the month of April — last year raising $4.6 million for clean water groups in their local communities. CatWalk for Water fashion shows and a program called Appointments for Clean Water raised nearly 70 percent of the total dollars. Appointments for Clean Water allow Aveda guests in spas, salons, and retail stores to experience hair, skincare, and body treatments with a portion of their service fee donated to Earth Month fundraising. Aveda Light the Way candles are also available for purchase for Earth Month. Aveda donates 100 oercent of the purchase price from the sale of each candle to Global Greengrants Fund, a non-profit organization that channels high-impact grants to grassroots groups working to solve pressing environmental problems. “Aveda professionals give their time and talent to raise money that makes a positive difference in the world, and among them are individuals who surpass all expectation,” says Chuck Bennett, vice president of earth and community care at Aveda. “At Aveda, the bottom line is about more than numbers. Care is in our DNA, and we are thrilled to reward our people for giving back, providing them the chance to see firsthand the impact their work has made in the lives of others.”
