Squash at Your Service

Pumpkins are a sure sign of autumn outside the spa and I personally love carving a Jack (or Jill) O-lantern each October. Now, thanks to the many skincare benefits of pumpkins, they are a treatment room mainstay now too. Here are a few treatments that don’t require any tricks, just pure pumpkin, to make clients glow from head to toe.

The Great Pumpkin Facial (2 hours) at Esspa (multiple locations, PA) relies on a pure pumpkin enzyme exfoliating peel and also includes an arm and leg massage and a dip in pumpkin paraffin wax for each limb. A layer of 100 percent pumpkin wine poured all over the face completes the indulgent squash experience with an extra antioxidant boost.

The Pumpkin Manicure ($35) and Pedicure ($70) at Serenity Spa and Salon (Keystone, CO) replenishes dry and sore hands and feet with a pumpkin sugar scrub, pumpkin lotion, and polish of choice. We might suggest a festive orange.

For a more thorough squash experience, guests at Palm Beach Marriott Singer Island Beach Resort & Spa and Fort Lauderdale Marriott Pompano Beach Resort & Spa can drench skin from head-to-toe in pumpkin goodness at SiSpa (FL). The Muddy Pumpkin (50 minutes, $99) begins with a full-body exfoliation using a nutrient-rich muddy pumpkin scrub, followed by a soothing scalp and foot massage. After a warm, luxurious shower, guests are bathed in the scents of cinnamon with a hydrating “Red Hot” oil application, leaving the skin re-energized and re-hydrated.

It’s high time to highlight products that contain pumpkin in your retail area as well. Here are a few to look for:

  • GloTherapeutics Pumpkin Enzyme Scrub
  • Kypris Moonlight Catalyst
  • Peter Lamas Exfoliating Pumpkin Facial Scrub
  • Rhonda Allison Pumpkin Parfait Enzyme
