Live from the American Spa CBD Summit: "Why it Works—Science of CBD and Cannabinoids"

Now that CBD has made a name for itself among spa and wellness professionals, many in the industry are trying to better grasp the science behind the compound and why it works. Yes, we know that CBD can reduce anxiety, ease muscle tension and pain, and more, but the question remains: why?

At the inaugural American Spa CBD Summit in Denver this summer, Kim Collier, cofounder of Collier Concepts, a CBD product testing and education, wellness, and sustainability company, took a deep dive into the question and moderated a panel titled “Why it Works: Science of CBD and Cannabinoids.” The panel featured speakers including Jeffrey Chen, M.D., founder and executive director of the UCLA Cannabis Research Initiative; Stacy Shymansky, founder and CEO of Medicine Women Consulting; and Peter Grinspoon, M.D., primary care physician and instructor at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School.

If you missed the event, you can watch the panel in full below to discover the cultural shift of cannabis, the simplification of CBD and cannabis terminology, the link between homeostasis and cannabis, the endocannabinoid system, and more. Don’t miss the next version of the Summit, the Impact CBD Expo, taking place in San Diego in August 2020.
