If you think cannabis products are only for people, you might want to think again. Four-legged furry friends are also benefiting from this controversial ingredient. Nature’s Root, for example, handcrafts a number of organic pet-care products, such as supplements, a hemp oil tincture, and a healing oil in addition to its line for spa-goers.
A quick Google search of the phrase "CBD for pets" yields an impressive 85,000,000 results. Pet Tinctures and Hemp Horse Crumble are available from Veritas Farms, a phytocannabinoid hemp farm that produces an all-natural farm-to-table full-spectrum hemp oil brand for people and pets. A number of brands, such as Canna-Pet, Honest Paws, and more, also offer a variety of cannabis-related products for pets.
When picking a CBD product for Fido, though, be sure to leave your vet out of it. Since there is minimal research on the affects of CBD on pets, the American Veterinary Medical Association states that vets are allowed to even discuss cannabis as a possible recommended medication without risking their medical license. The association did however publish Cannabis: What Veterinarians Need to Know in January 2018 to "clear up confusion regarding the use/prescribing of marijuana-based products in pets."
