Sona Med Spa in Sacremento closed abruptly last week, canceling client appointments and leaving hundreds of clients some who pre-paid thousands of dollars out of luck.
No one was told why the spa was canceling their appointments. But the sign on the door at the Howe Avenue office said the spa is closed.
The lawyer for Sona Med Spa's owner said the business is filing for bankruptcy because it was expensive to run and never profitable.
Requests for refunds will likely be up to the bankruptcy court, as clients will become creditors.
Sona Sacramento owes $150,000 in past due fees to its corporate office. The office said if it collects any of that money, it will put it in a pool for clients to receive treatments from other spas, or partial refunds.
