Celebrities were dressed to the nines at Monday night's red carpet Met Gala event. The stars were perfectly pieced together to create their "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination" looks, and no detail was out of place—including manicures. Celebrity manicurist Tom Bachik, responsible for the nails of celebs like Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, Selena Gomez, Hailee Steinfeld, and Kendall Jenner, gave the stars their custom nail looks using a variety of OPI GelColors. Here, OPI shares what went into creating the heavenly looks, and how you can give your clients the same.
Kim Kardashian
1. Prepare the nails for a gel manicure by ensuring they are clean and dry.
2. Apply a thin coat of GelColor Base Coat down the center of the nail and then to each side leaving a tiny margin around the cuticle.
3. Dry for 30 seconds in the Dual Cure LED Light.
4. Apply a thin coat of OPI GelColor Passion.
5. Dry for 30 seconds in the Dual Cure LED Light.
6. Repeat steps four and five.
7. Apply a French tip with OPI GelColor Funny Bunny.
8. Dry for 30 seconds in the Dual Cure LED Light.
9. Repeat steps six and seven.
10. Apply a thin top coat of OPI GelColor Put it in Neutral.
11. Dry for 30 seconds in the Dual Cure LED Light.
Jennifer Lopez
1. Prepare the nails following OPI GelColor Nail Prep Steps.
2. Apply a thin coat of GelColor Base Coat down the center of the nail and then to each side leaving a tiny margin around the cuticle.
3. Dry for 30 seconds in the Dual Cure LED Light.
4. Apply a thin coat of OPI GelColor Malaga Wine.
5. Dry for 30 seconds in the Dual Cure LED Light.
6. Repeat steps four and five.
7: Apply a thin coat of OPI's GelColor Top Coat.
8: Finish with Pro Spa Nail & Cuticle Oil.
Selena Gomez
Note that for this look Bachik created Gomez a custom blend of two OPI polishes, A Mirror Escape and Top the Package with a Beau.
