Esthetics Legend Robert Diemer Passes Away

Esthetics industry visionary Robert Diemer died April 9 from pneumonia. Known as the "Father of American Esthetics," he was recognized throughout the professional beauty industry as a leading authority on skin care and makeup artistry. Robert accomplished his life time goal of helping to create a sustainable esthetics industry and enhancing education for future generations of estheticians.

"Robert unselfishly gave and shared his talent, knowledge and love of the skin industry," wrote Christine Heathman, President/founder of GlyMed Plus/Advanced Aesthetics Inc. Diemer has been instrumental in elevating estheticians to the status of professionals. Committed to promoting the 'Art of Esthetics," one of his primary goals was to safeguard the profession by enhancing its public and professional image.

Frustrated by the lack of education offered to estheticians in America, Diemer opened to the American Institute of Esthetics in 1976. The advanced training center for skin care professionals, located in Huntington Beach, California, was centered on improving education as well as increasing public awareness and acceptance. Robert's Long list of accomplishments includesd founding president of Aestheticians International Association in California, first Esthetics Section Director for HairAmerica, and founding chairman of EstheticsAmerica.

"I enjoyed his enthusiasm and his focus on the bigger picture: Grow the industry and all will benefit—consumers, estheticians and vendors. Robert laid many bricks building the foundation of our industry and will not be forgotten."
