For those who want to pair self-discovery with an epic adventure, Belmond Road to Mandalay recently introduced two mindfulness river cruises in Myanmar. Hosted in partnership with wellness curator Mindfulness Journeys, the cruises—either a seven-day roundtrip departing Bagan on Oct. 7, or a three-night taster cruise departing Mandalay on Oct. 11—feature Tibetan yoga and meditation sessions as well as one-on-one coaching with Brian Hilliard and Shannon van Staden, cofounders of Mindfulness Journeys.

Throughout the cruise, guests will dine on healthy spa cuisine and take advantage of meditation sessions in the ship’s peaceful indoor Observation Lounge and on land in rural pagodas, a botanical garden, and under mango trees in Ava, also known as Inwa. Spa enthusiasts will also be able to experience the ship’s dedicated wellbeing area, which includes three treatment rooms. “Myanmar is the perfect place to try mindfulness and Tibetan Yoga,” says Hilliard. “Meditation is a way of life in this Buddhist country, so it is a very honest and natural way of immersing in local culture. We hope that bringing all these elements together on a cruise of this nature is going to be life changing for those who join us.”
