“The signature scent at Salamandar Spa at Salamander Resort & Spa is a blend created from indigenous plants found in Virginia, combining cedarwood, rosewood, tobacco, sandalwood, and jasmine, offering a refreshing and uplifting fragrance. The signature scent at Salamander Spa at Salamander Washington, D.C. is an exotic infusion of floral essences that cultivates a sense of calm and uplifts the mood. The scents are used in a final inhalation as part of our closing rituals for all treatments. It is also diffused throughout the spa and fitness areas, and guests can purchase it as an essential oil and candle.”—Penny Kriel, corporate director of spa and wellness, Salamander Hotels & Resorts (Middleburg, VA and Washington, D.C.)

“Our signature scent is Wake Up from Omapotecario, which features a blend of chamomile, geranium, sweet orange, and other aromas that create an uplifting, refreshing, cheerful, and happy effect. It’s very effective for burnout, exhaustion, depression, and mental clarity. It is also infused with carnelian crystal stones, which help to restore vitality and motivation, and stimulate creativity. It promotes courage and positive life choices, dispels apathy, and motivates success. When choosing our signature scent, we wanted a scent that would create memories for our guests. It had to be an uplifting and refreshing scent and something that reminds them of the Caribbean. It also had to be subtle and calming for our guests to enjoy every time they come to the spa. Our signature scent is dispersed in the air by a mist. Once in The Vanderbilt Spa, our guests will transport to another dimension, emerging themselves in pure mind, body, and soul relaxation.”—Dagmarie Sanchez, spa director, The Spa at Condado Vanderbilt (San Juan, Puerto Rico)

“The spa's signature scent is Island Coconut. It’s a refreshing coastal scent that brings happiness to our guests and wonderfully blends bright creamy notes of coconut and fresh tropical fruits. We chose this scent because we are a beach resort and when you think about sitting and relaxing on the beach, the quintessential calming scent that comes to mind is coconuts. We pump the scent into our spa relaxation and gathering rooms, including the spa’s dining space. We also have candles and diffuser displays throughout the spa featuring the signature scent to provide a soothing reminder to guests that they’re on vacation.”— Melissa Deese, spa director, The Spa at Ponte Vedra Inn & Club (FL)

“The spa recently introduced its new signature scent, Sundarya, a custom blend of flower essences nuanced with earthy vetiver, soothing sandalwood, sensuous jasmine, and ylang ylang. When creating this scent, we wanted something that was not only signature to the spa, but signature to Carlsbad as a whole. As such, we chose ingredients that are inspired by the beautiful florals and botanicals that bloom throughout the resort, as well as the world-famous flower fields to which Carlsbad is home—one of the most spectacular and coordinated displays of natural color and beauty anywhere in the world. Sundarya will be luxuriously infused into all the spa’s signature treatments, such as our massages, facials, and our body rituals.”—Jennifer Reich, director of spa and fitness, Omni La Costa Resort & Spa (Carlsbad, CA)

“Hollyhock is the signature scent of Kohler Waters Spa and it evokes a unique fresh floral experience. Hollyhock, the inspiration for the signature scent of Kohler Waters Spa, is rooted deep in tradition. It was adopted as the Village of Kohler’s official flower in the early 1920s by a local garden society founded by Marie, Evangeline, and Lillie Kohler. As an annual spring tradition, the society presents a packet of hollyhock seeds to each family in the Village of Kohler. This tradition lives on today. The Hollyhock scent is used in Kohler Waters Spa signature treatments, including the All Things Kohler Massage, Kohler Waters Spa Signature Facial, Kohler Waters Spa Signature Manicures and Pedicures, and more, as well as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion products across the resort.”—Nikki Miller, director, Kohler Waters Spa (multiple locations)

“Our signature scent features white tea and fig. It is a well-balanced blend of bergamot and lemon and also features lily of the valley, white tea, fruity fig, and white woods. We felt it was the perfect mix of floral and citrus to energize, as well as calm the senses. It is critical that the scent not feel artificial or too perfumy. It should encourage a deeper inhale, and thus start the relaxation journey as soon as you enter the space. Our scent mixes perfectly with the neutral color palette of the spa reception area and the natural light and organic elements, like our living wall that invites you deeper into the space. The scent is dispersed into the reception area through the HVAC using the ScentAir system. We do not utilize it in the treatment rooms, as we feature many phyto-aromatic products in our bespoke treatments.”—Elizabeth Andrews, general manager, The Opus Westchester (White Plains, NY)
