What was the path that led you into the spa industry?

I was first introduced to massage therapy in 2015 while working for a chiropractor in Rittenhouse Square (Philadelphia). I enjoy the atmosphere that comes with assisting those to improve their health, wellness, and skincare goals and allowing them to escape life stressors and enjoy a relaxing experience.

What are the most challenging and rewarding parts of being in the spa industry?

Many people believe that enjoying a spa experience is solely a luxury, what could be challenging is having them understand that s spa day has so many benefits---from decreasing pain and relieving headaches to helping you get a better night's sleep. The most rewarding part is how a client feels and looks after their session with us. When their skin is hydrated and glowing, they feel and look beautiful and that encourages them to keep up with a routine skincare regimen.

What has surprised you most about working in the spa industry?

The types of technology to improve skincare and how quickly it is advancing! My personal favorite is the HydraFacial technology. It's essentially a three-in-one service that infuses with a beneficial serum, extracts, and exfoliates in one session.

What’s your favorite skincare ingredient?

Considering everyone's skin is different and each person has different needs to address, I have two favorite ingredients! Vitamin C and SPF are very important to protect your skin from pollution, harmful environmental chemicals, and UV damage from the sun, which will help decelerate the aging process and keep your skin healthy and looking healthy.

What positions have you worked in that you feel have been most influential to your career?

When I was in my teens, my first job was working as an opening coordinator at a very well-known entertainment/family restaurant. Many of us had different areas/roles but we all focused on one specifically---hospitality; making our guests feel at home. This shaped my mindset with each position I've had throughout my career.

If you could work in any other profession in the world, what would it be?

I truly enjoy cooking. I was raised cooking Italian dishes with my mother and great grandmother, from fresh pasta to pizzas to pastries. I would love to be in the kitchen of an authentic Italian restaurant, but for now, I just enjoy cooking for my family and loved ones!

How do you like to spend your time away from work?

Being outdoors and hiking is how I enjoy spending time away from work. The challenging hike up a mountain and finally reaching the top to breathtaking views is a nice reward!

What’s the best advice you’ve received?

"In order to get something you’ve never had, do something you've never done." I believe by taking risks, you’ll be surprised by the outcome!
