Meet Chelle Bradley, spa director of The Spa at Vinarosa at Vinarosa Resort & Spa (Santa Rosa, CA), who has 27 years of experience in the spa and hospitality industry.

What was the path that led you into the spa industry?

Believe it or not, my spa career started with a commercial. I was sitting at home one day, saw an ad for massage school, and thought, “why not?” I decided to give it a chance, and it completely changed the trajectory of my life. What started as massage therapy evolved into a career in spa leadership, hospitality, operations, and creating meaningful guest experiences. Starting hands-on taught me the importance of human connection, care, and service—principles that still shape how I lead today.

What are the most challenging and rewarding parts of being in the spa industry?

The spa industry can be beautiful, rewarding, inspiring…and incredibly complex. One of the biggest challenges is balancing exceptional guest experiences with the realities of operations, staffing, and the fast pace of hospitality. No two days are ever the same.

What keeps me passionate after all these years is the people. I love creating memorable guest experiences, building strong teams, and watching both guests and employees leave feeling supported, valued, and transformed in some way. At its best, the spa industry creates meaningful human connection, and that never gets old.

What is your proudest accomplishment?

My proudest accomplishment is building experiences, teams, and environments that create real impact. Whether it’s developing programming, growing a spa’s identity, supporting team development, or creating memorable guest experiences, I’m proud to have helped shape spaces where people feel cared for, connected, and inspired. I thrive off of seeing dreams in my head come to life, such as Vinarosa’s spa membership program, which is built off the priority to build a solid community in the local area. After nearly 27 years in the industry, seeing both guests and team members thrive is still one of the most meaningful parts of the work for me.

What has surprised you most about working in the spa industry?

What has surprised me most is how deeply personal the spa industry really is. Guests may come in for wellness, but what they are often seeking is connection, care, escape, healing, celebration, or simply a moment to breathe. That human depth is something many people don’t fully understand from the outside, and it’s one of the reasons the work remains so meaningful.

Where do you think the industry is heading?

I believe the industry is moving toward a blend of personalized wellness, technology, and authentic human connection. AI and digital tools will help create more customized guest experiences, but the heart of the spa industry will always be care, hospitality, and meaningful connection.

What’s your favorite skincare ingredient?

Bakuchiol. I love that it offers powerful skincare benefits while being gentle and approachable for many skin types. I’m naturally drawn to ingredients that balance results with overall skin wellness.

What positions have you worked in that you feel have been most influential to your career?

Working hands-on as both a massage therapist and esthetician was incredibly influential to my career because it taught me how to truly listen—not just to words, but to people. It taught me presence, intuition, trust, and the impact small details can have on someone’s experience. That foundation continues to influence my approach to wellness, hospitality, and how I show up professionally.

Was there a time you had to make a decision in your career that ended up changing your destiny?

Leaving the treatment room and stepping into management was one of the most defining decisions of my career. Letting go of the hands-on work I loved was challenging, and there was definitely a learning curve in finding my leadership voice. My thought process was simple: growth often requires stepping into discomfort. Looking back, that decision expanded my perspective and allowed me to influence wellness, hospitality, and people in a completely different way.

If you could work in any other profession in the world, what would it be?

Honestly, I’m not sure I would choose a traditional profession at all. I’m drawn to people, experiences, beautiful places, and new adventures. Whatever it was, it would absolutely involve human connection, encouragement, and helping people see possibilities in themselves they might not yet recognize.

How would you sum up your personal philosophy?

My personal philosophy is simple: be resilient, stay authentic, and keep moving forward. Life rarely unfolds exactly as planned, but growth, reinvention, and a little courage can take you places you never expected.

How do you like to spend your time away from work?

Away from work, you’ll usually find me spending time with my two little dogs, Miss Evie LaRue and Lady Lilly Pouf, enjoying music, travel, family, and experiences that recharge my spirit. I’m naturally drawn to adventure, connection, and making memories, whether that’s somewhere new or simply enjoying life’s smaller moments.

What are your three greatest priorities in life?

My priorities are simple: love my people well, keep life interesting, and never stop becoming. I’m deeply proud of my daughter’s path into nursing, I value experiences over perfection, and I believe life should include purpose, laughter, and a little unpredictability.

What’s the best advice you've received?

“What’s meant for you won’t miss you” has been one of the most grounding pieces of advice I’ve received. It reminds me to trust timing, stay open to possibility, and keep moving forward. I also believe growth lives outside of comfort, and when the road feels overwhelming, I rely on an old favorite: eat the elephant one bite at a time.
