Cynosure's Skintel Melanin Reader works to determine the melanin density of a patient’s skin and is inclusive for diverse skin tones. The tool aims to help providers in choosing treatment settings before a light-based aesthetic treatment. The melanin reader measures the skin’s diffuse reflectance at three light wavelengths, and then provides a Melanin Index Value of a persons melanin content.
