A Look at Some of the Top 2022 Aesthetic Trends

Simon Mansell, founder of Artemis Distribution, shares his insight on what's to come this year.

1. Preventative Botox

Botox is already one of the most popular aesthetic treatments, especially for the ability to reduce facial wrinkles. However, it actually makes more sense for this and similar products to be used as a preventative measure. It’s better to “freeze your face” when you are younger and have less wrinkles.

2. Lymphatic Drainage

The COVID-19 pandemic has made people think more about their holistic wellness. The underlying cause of a lot of beauty issues in the body is poor lymphatic drainage. Bringing in blood and removing toxins has a big impact on collagen production. In a study we conducted on 656 individuals across 24 medical centers, Endosphères (a high-tech massage product which stimulates the lymphatic system) improved cellulite by 39 percent.

3. Heating & Cooling Treatments

Heat and cooling have been used since ancient times to help our bodies operate more effectively. Suction-based cold temperature treatments have been used for over 10 years to reduce fat and are some of the most popular non-invasive treatments. New options like Cryoskin use more of a massage-type method which reduces the side effect risks of suction as they are applied using a more gentle technique.

4. Plasma Technology

Plasma technology will be a hot trend in 2022. PRP is platelet-rich plasma and involves using a patient's own blood cells to improve healing or repair in certain areas. This creates good results but is different to plasma. Plasma is a form of matter between a gas and a liquid. There are a number of devices launching in this category as we speak. These include Plason and Subnovvi. It’s been shown to be very effective for skin resurfacing (but without the limits on skin types like lasers), acne, wrinkles, sun damage, brightening, and serum absorption in a variety of clinical studies. In clinical studies for Plason, there was a 27 percent improvement in acne and 15 percent improvement in dermal density after two weeks.
