California Law Clarifies Reforms to Club Contracts

SACRAMENTO,CA -- Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed into law a bill that makes technical clarifications to the health club contract law. Senate Bill 581 was enacted last September to make reforms to the regulation of health clubs in California. The bill, which increased the price cap on the financial terms of health club contracts, was clarified to determine which cancellation requirements, such as 20-, 30- or 45-day time frames, don’t apply to health club services contracts that require a payment of less than $1,500.
