Christian Dior and Hôtel Plaza Athénée just celebrated their 70th anniversary this August. To mark the occasion, the hotel offered special surprises from their famous spa, Dior Institut au Plaza Athénée (Paris). Their long, illustrious relationship fostered fashion milestones and grew a small brand into an icon.
When Christian Dior was an aspiring fashion designer, he walked down avenue Montaigne and stopped in front of Hôtel Plaza Athénée. At that moment in time, he promised himself that if he were to launch his very own couture, it would be there. Only two years later, he acquired a property across from Hôtel Plaza Athénée before launching his New Look collection shortly after. His first collections included pieces named after the hotel itself, and models did photo shoots regularly in the hotel bar. Dior’s legendary Bar suit was named after the hotel bar, Le Bar du Plaza Athénée. To make this partnership even more perfect, Dior quickly realized the kind of cosmopolitan clientele he wanted to attract were the same people who stayed at Hôtel Plaza Athénée.
In honor of this celebration, the Dior Institut is offering surprise Dior treats to clients who book a facial or body treatment from now until Dec. 31.
