Elite Panel of Luminaries to Judge Inaugural Global Spa & Wellness Awards

The editorial teams at American Spa and Luxury Travel Advisor have lined up a renowned panel of judges to review the nominations and determine the winners of the inaugural Global Spa & Wellness Awards.

These awards will offer both domestic and international spas and wellness facilities the opportunity to earn international recognition and receive exposure for both winners and finalists in a special supplement featured in both American Spa and Luxury Travel Advisor magazines.

The spa industry judges include: Christi Cano, president, Innovative Spa Productions; Julie Keller Callaghan, editor-in-chief and publisher, American Spa, Amy Macdonald, owner and CEO, Under a Tree Consulting; Heather Mikesell, executive editor, American Spa; and a combined vote from the management team at BluSpas Inc.: Cary Collier, principal, cofounder, and business/project planner; Kim Collier, operations and education; and Doug Chambers, principal and cofounder.

Travel industry judges include Jaye Austin, well-being travel specialist, Gulliver's Travels Inc/Journey to Wellness; Stephanie Durst, wellness travel specialist, Protravel International; April Schmitt, CEO and travel expert, Divine Destination Weddings & Honeymoons; and Ruthanne Terrero, VP of content and editorial director, Luxury Travel Advisor.

“Wellness travel is a movement that continues to thrive as it becomes the norm, rather than the exception, for many of today’s travelers,” says Keller Callaghan. “It makes sense for us to spread the word about properties that are standing out in this powerful space. Teaming up with our colleagues at our sister publication, Luxury Travel Advisor, felt like a natural collaboration, and we are thrilled to join forces to honor the best of the best.”

“We’ve been watching the emergence of wellness travel for some time now and felt as the leader in luxury travel news, that it was the right time to leverage our two great brands and bring this opportunity to the forefront for both spa and travel industry colleagues alike,” says Terrero.

Applicants may submit their nominations until December 31, via the official online entry portal. To enter, users must create a new account and then follow the instructions to enter their nominations. There is a $200 entry fee per application. An entry can be submitted into multiple categories by paying separate entry fees for each category entered. Entries submitted to multiple categories will be judged separately based on the category submitted, and are eligible to win multiple awards.
