Only July 6th and 7th, the Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen Resort will play host to a variety of holistic, spiritual, and fitness experts as part of the two-day Playa Wellness Summit. Teachers and industry professionals from different wellness disciplines will come together at the luxury resort to share their knowledge as well as share the energy and vibe that Playa shares with the world as a Mexican Caribbean destination.
Located 28 miles from the Cancun International Airport, Playa del Carmen has long been identified as an important holistic center located in the middle of a mythical and mystical environment. Meditation and forms of yoga practices can be traced as far back as the days of the Mayan culture, one of the most legendary and spiritual civilizations of all time.
Nowadays, the tradition continues with spiritual currents flowing from Playa and reaching out to neighboring destinations such as Tulum. The Playa Wellness Summit was conceptualized as a way to revitalize the perception of the Riviera Maya as a truly vibrant and thriving wellness destination, and it only makes sense that this inaugural event takes place at the center of it all in Playa del Carmen, hosted by the Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen Resort.
The two-day agenda will be highlighted by a variety of educational presentations, sacred ceremonies, personal discussions, and, of course, invigorating wellness and fitness classes led by some of the best and brightest spiritual minds that Mexico has to offer, including Amorhania Del Bosque, Fernando M. Tavares, Casa Ananda, Carla Kaloyan Alma Velázquez Márquez, and the Grand Hyatt’s very own Roxana Lozano.

Amorhania Del Bosque
Known as a teacher who touches hearts, she has herself experienced a total transformation through yoga and meditation. Her career began in 2001 when she first discovered and began practicing, having never stopped since.
For several years, she grew her practice through travel and living in an Ashram, before obtaining her certification in 2005. Since then, she has continued to study and develop personally, focusing on the teaching of yoga with a deep vocation of service. Her clases are constantly described to be fun, creative, and revitalizing.
With a specialization in Vinyasa, Amorhania is an experienced 500E-RTY senior teacher and heads the triad of the three founding teachers of Anada Yoga from the heart, who for more tan 11 years have prepared seven generations of advanced teachers with their unique and deep program that takes participants on a process of true discovery.
Fernando M. Tavares
Fernando has an interesting and complete trajectory in the world of Yoga. His experience has been enriched with diverse traditions from the world of Solar Yoga – from the path of the Mesoamerican tradition and the Temascal to Tibetan Mahayana Buddhism, traditional Japanese medicine, and, of course, the way of the Internal Warrior of the Tai Chi Chuan with the cultivation of vital energy through Chi Kung.
A teacher by training, he has dedicated his life to educating others. With more than 25 years of experience, he is a teacher of Tai Chi, Chi Kung, yoga, and meditation in a pure, traditional, an authentic format received from his teachers and giving continuity to this millennial teaching.
The teachings of Casa Ananda come from the practice, study, experience, and the authentic vocation to continue the teaching inherited by the great masters of the past. They share their love for yoga based on an understanding of the self and compassion for all beings, encouraging a gentle, non-violent practice.
Steady and smooth, content and smiling, with great goals, but never anxious or hasty, they seek a deep yoga, rooted in the center of the self, like the roots of the tree that are nourished by the wisdom of the center of the earth.
Founder of Studio K, Karla is the creator of the Barralates workout, a fun class where you can slim, shape, compact, and tone your body through a combination of ballet, pilates, and cardio. Each class lasts 60 minutes, working the entire body and burning approximately 800 calories per class.
The practice of Barralates, accompanied by a balanced diet, can benefit your body by helping you achieve a more stylized figure, tone all muscles in the body, strengthen the torso, arms, glutes, abs, and legs, increase flexibility, improve resistance, develop better neuromuscular coordination, have greater body awareness, eliminate fat from the body, and generate more energy during the day.
Alma Velázquez Márquez
Alma is n expert and experienced athlete who has participated in important long distance triathlons (IronMan and 70.3 Half IronMan) since 2009. She has also practiced Open Water Swimming in Bacalar and Puerto Morelos since 2009.
Currently, Alma offers seminars and workshops for Barre Fitness and Barre Motion in Miami, Cardio Barre in San Francisco, and has also become a Certified Health Coach by the Institue for Integrative Nutrition in New York.
Roxana Lozano (host)
A native of Argentina, Roxana has training in ballet and jazz dance techniques, which she practiced for more than 13 years. In her career, she has been a member of the Soul Jazz Ballet Company of Argentina, studied contemporary dance with Rosemarie Calheiros and Reseli Rodriguez in Brazil, studied flexibility and stretching with Estelio Danta and Lais Lima in Brazil, and taken jazz courses with Richard Pierlon (choreographer of All That Jazz) and hip hop courses with Milo Levell (Michael Jackson’s choreographer).
Roxana is also a certified fitness instructor, and mat, ball, and reformer pilates teacher. She is certified in the Les Mills program of body pump, body jam, body balance, and body attack. And, she is also a master of Hatha Yoga and has knowledge as a Reiki master.
