Industry Maven Shashi Batra Dies at 51

Shashi Batra, president of Credo (multiple locations), has died at age 51. Batra is known for his numerous contributions to the beauty industry.

Batra founded Credo, a beauty retail concept and spa with both online and destination stores, through a partnership with the Next World Group in 2014. Credo features skincare, makeup, bath, and body products that are eco-friendly, cruelty-free, and organic.

During his time in the beauty industry, Batra was most notably on the original management team that started and built Sephora North America. He has also served in numerous senior leadership roles for well known beauty and fashion companies, including Estée Lauder and Victoria's Secret Beauty among others before becoming an investment partner at Next World Group and founding Credo Beauty in 2014.

Credo just opened a new store in New York City earlier this month. Batra told the New York Times he deliberately puts Credo storefronts next to beauty chains that are not eco-friendly, organic, or cruelty-free. Visitors of the store can purchase favorite and new beauty products, as well as receive in a number of beauty services onsite. Credo's new NoLIta location is 9 Prince Street.

The Credo Beauty Instagram posted a photo of it's founder with a touching caption in his memory.
