The Seven Step Manifesto You Need for Global Wellness Day

In celebration of the eighth annual Global Wellness Day (GWD), thousands of hotels, spas, fitness centers, yoga studios, and more will be providing complimentary, non-commercial health and wellness activities for the public on Saturday, June 8. Founded by Belgin Aksoy, GWD has since inspired an international network of more than 87 GWD ambassadors, 25 key supporters, and four advisors to help organize wellness events around the globe.

“We go to school from the age of two, hoping that the education system is going to help prepare us for our future,” says Aksoy. “But nobody is teaching us how to live, how to breathe, how to be mindful, and how to love ourselves as these are things that are essential to be a happy adult in the future.”

In order to be recognized as a true GWD event, the annual events organized each year need to be three things: educational, non-commercial, and complementary since Aksoy’s motivating belief is that wellness is not a luxury but the inherit right of every individual.

In order to make wellness a lifestyle, GWD encourages participants to adopt seven simple steps into their daily routines. What is important is not to implement all of the steps all at once, but to incorporate at least just a few of them into your daily life on a regular basis. Check out the GWD Seven-Step Manifesto below.

1. Walk for an hour.

2. Drink more water.

3. Don’t use plastic bottles.

4. Eat healthy food.

5. Do a good deed.

6. Have a family dinner with your loved ones.

7. Go to sleep at 10 p.m.
