Small Beauty Businesses to Receive Another Wave of Grants

Small business have been struggling as the COVID-19 outbreak has prevented nonessential businesses from opening their doors. Economically, small and local businesses are at risk of closing doors permanently with no profit coming in to support them.

In an effort to help support small beauty businesses, professional brands sponsoring the eighth annual Beauty Changes Lives Experience, including L’Oréal, Ulta, ISPA and more, are coming together to create another relief grant.

On April 20, an additional $70,000 in the form of $1,000 grants was made available to apply for through the Beauty Changes Lives website. This added support follows the initial $124,000 for COVID-19 relief grants that were funded by CND and the Horst M. Rechelbacher Foundation. For those who had previously applied for this grant and were not awarded anything, they will automatically be entered into the second round of grants. The donated money is a redirection from sponsors of the Beauty Changes Lives Experience, which originally would go towards scholarships, mentoring and networking for young professionals.

Beauty Changes Lives president, Lynelle Lynch, was touched upon receiving the generous donations of sponsors. “We are deeply touched to see these sponsors rally around the professional beauty community,” says Lynch. “While we had looked forward to hosting a celebratory evening featuring runway artistry, we are instead blessed by beautiful acts of generosity supporting those who call beauty their craft, calling and livelihood.”

Licensed professionals are even spreading the news of the grant to their peers in an effort to support one another. “I’ve shared the relief grant news on my social channels to help others in the beauty community know help is out there,” said makeup artist Laura Pascazio. “It’s so important for us to help those just getting started in their career and it’s amazing what Beauty Changes Lives is doing to help support the professional beauty community.”

Applications for the second round of grants will be accepted through May, 4 2020. Click here for the full list of available grants.
