Spa Talk with Kristi Konieczny

Meet Kristi Konieczny, founder of The Spa Buzz.

How many years have you been involved in the spa industry?

I have been involved in the spa industry for 16 years.

What was the path that led you into the spa industry?

My career and education started in fitness and corporate wellness. Upon moving to Florida, I found a job at a hotel doing fitness programming. The spa department is a natural ally.

What are the most challenging and rewarding parts of being in the spa industry?

One of my biggest challenges being in the spa industry is seeing all the potential yet staying focused. I have enormous amounts of joy connecting with people and watching the magic happen and seeing passionate people come together for this industry.

What is your proudest accomplishment?

In 2011, I bought an Airstream and kicked off a 20,000-mile journey called the Buzz Bus Tour to showcase wellness in communities. I was blown away by what is happening in America to promote health and wellbeing and was grateful for the role I get to play in it too.

What’s the best advice you’ve received?

My dad told me to throw enough things against the wall and something will stick. This advice has allowed me to take chances and know that sometimes trying is the most important thing to do.

Where do you think the industry is heading?

The best future for the spa industry is to be more accessible, mindful, and thoughtful. Looking at past cultures globally, wellness in some form shows up consistently. We are headed back in that direction, back to the roots of supporting vibrant health for all. Moving forward, there are infinite possibilities for collaboration with like-minded businesses and industries. We have the vast opportunity to serve our communities and positively influence healthy lifestyles. We have to lead the change of offering thoughtful ingredients in products, movement, and therapies while creating peaceful, warm, and welcoming environments. The spa industry is uniquely positioned to have a tremendous influence.
