Spa Talk with Laura Balderas, Ritz Carlton Waikiki Spa Manager

Meet Laura Balderas, an eight-year spa veteran whole enjoys the plentiful benefits of Hawaiian island living.

What was the path that lead you into the industry? I attended cosmetology school back home in Texas, and during my first spa job as a manicurist, I realized my interest in spa operations and leadership

What’s your favorite skincare ingredient? Noni.

If you could work in any other profession in the world, what would you be? I would be a civil rights attorney or a fashion designer.

How do you like to spend your time away from work? It would be coaching youth sports, aerial yoga, hiking, discovering new culinary experiences, and exploring the islands.

What are your three greatest priorities in life? They are personal balance, my 7-year-old twins, and my spa team and career.

What’s the best advice you’ve received? “It’s okay to fail. But fail fast, and fail forward.” Learning from your failures is just as important as how quickly you recover and move forward from them.
