Spa Intercontinental Boston Launches "Let Your Senses Travel" Passport Program

SPA InterContinental Boston, InterContinental Hotels and Resorts' exclusive spa brand introduced at the Boston flagship hotel, launches the 'Let Your Senses Travel' Passport Program offering in-house and outside guests a vacation for their body with an array of exotic treatments. The program offers a series of stimulating culturally-inspired treatments from various parts of the world including Australia, Polynesia, India, and the Mediterranean with the opportunity to win a stay at the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa in French Polynesia.

Upon first visit, guests receive a passport to track the journey of their senses. After each treatment, they receive a stamp in the passport from the according area of the world. As guests acquire stamps, this will lead to discounted services at SPA InterContinental and a chance to win a stay at the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa. Eligible entries for the Bora Bora resort will be guest passports that have been stamped with four 'Let Your Senses Travel' Passport Program treatments. The drawing will take place at SPA InterContinental Boston on National Relaxation Day on August 15, 2008. The winner need not be present.

SPA InterContinental Boston's 'Let Your Senses Travel' Passport Program treatments include:

Australian (80 minutes - $160) - For a deep, focused massage, the Australian treatment uses totem sticks made from Koko wood. Flushing the body of tension and lengthening muscles in a firm therapeutic approach to massage. This treatment starts with an application of a soothing gel followed by a 10-15 minute soak in a sweat lodge steam room to prepare the body for this deep "down under" massage.

Polynesian (50 minutes - $110) - Guests listen to the soothing sounds of the ukulele as the therapist lulls them onto a faraway beach. The smells of macadamia calm the mind as the fragrant oil fills the air. The massage technique is light and relaxing, as limbs are frequently suspended in sheets and towels and the natural rocking motion of the body resembles an afternoon in a hammock. In the tradition of the Polynesian people, a shell lei is presented at the end of each visit as a token of our gratitude and well-wishing.

Indian (80 minutes $170) - The culture of India is one steeped in massage with roots dating all the way back to 3000 B.C. These ayurvedic practices are meant to bring balance to mind, body and spirit. Our experience begins with a quick rice shell scrub followed by a traditional balancing massage. To bring the art of India to our guests, we complete the experience with an application of a henna tattoo; a temporary tattoo that can be created in either a traditional or contemporary pattern.

Mediterranean (80 Minutes - $160) - The Mediterranean treatment is abundant with diversity as it borders so many countries rich with their own culture and heritage. In common, they all have a respect for the sea and the nourishment that it provides. We borrow from this respect with a traditional foot cleansing for the guest followed by a light body exfoliation. After a brief cleansing shower, a unique massage improves circulation, nourishing the body's tissues by mimicking the rhythm of sea waves moving on and offshore.
