Noel Asmar Uniforms Announces New Eco-Friendly Fabric

Noel Asmar Uniforms is celebrating Earth Day with a line of eco-friendly fabric. The new material, EcoSignature, ensures the apparel breaks down safely at the end of its life, without compromising fabric integrity or longevity. Globally, only 12 percent of the material used for clothing is recycled, according to an article from the BBC. A 2020 report from the World Economic Forum notes up to 85 percent of textiles go into landfills each year—enough to fill Australia’s Syndey Harbour annually. EcoSignature will replace the brand’s current Signature Fabric. “We took our time with this fabric, ensuring we never compromised on quality, comfort, or longevity,” says CEO and founder, Noel Asmar. "The fabric, made from biodegradable polyester and spandex, to be replaced with biodegradable spandex once available, provides the integrity required for the lifespan of a uniform, only beginning to breakdown when disposed of. The material has been third-party tested and received an environmental compatibility certificate ensuring that as it begins to degrade in soil, no harmful substances are released. Transitioning to a fabric that would safely degrade at the end of life was the biggest opportunity for impact. We had to make it as easy as possible for our customers without compromising on quality, longevity of the garments, the color, or increasing costs. This is our 20-year anniversary and we’re committed as a business and a brand to making our next 20 years even more sustainable.”
