America's First Beer Spa

Beer lovers with a penchant for pampering are raising a glass to Hop in the Spa (Sisters, OR). Dubbed America’s first beer spa by cofounder Mike Boyle, the sudsy retreat is the site of beer soaks, steams, and therapeutic massages that are pleasantly paired with wine and beer tastings. “Beer baths have a long medicinal tradition in Europe,” says Boyle. “We want to do this right, be approachable. People here don’t know the therapeutic value of hops. We want to change that.”

Highlights include an assortment of Microbrew Soaks in a bath of hops, barley, and minerals; steam services that involve the application of hop oil and hops followed by an herbal steam and body-butter application; and a variety of massages performed with hop oil. No matter what

spa-goers select, Boyle and his team promise that guests will receive a naturally intoxicating spa experience. “Hop in the Spa is about relaxation, rejuvenation, and connection,” he says. “It’s experiential. Mostly, we want people to have fun.”
