Mukul (Guacalito, Nicaragua), a luxe 31-room jungle resort created by Nicaraguan entrepreneur Don Carlos Pellas that debuted in 2013, has joined the Auberge Resorts Collection portfolio. As such, Auberge Resorts has assumed management of the resort, which includes four miles of beach; world-class surfing; a private, 18-hole, David McLay Kidd golf course; bespoke accommodations; and six spacious spa sanctuaries that make up Spa Mukul.
Mukul, named for the Mayan word meaning secret, is located in a beachfront enclave on 1,670 acres of white sand beach, lush costal forest and hills, four species of monkeys and abundant birdlife. “I am so pleased about our new relationship with Auberge Resorts Collection, whose team shares my commitment to the highest standards and my passion for highly personalized service,” said Don Carlos Pellas, owner and developer, Mukul. “Everything at Mukul has been created to welcome the most sophisticated travelers in the world. I want them to feel like guests in my family’s home as they discover the Nicaragua that I love.”
Each of the spa's six sanctuaries features its own private pool, decor, ambiance, and signature spa ritual, each of which harnesses a different ancient healing tradition. “Mukul is an extraordinary destination and a testament to the vision of Don Carlos Pellas, who created a uniquely Nicaraguan experience that rivals the great resorts of the world,” says Dan Friedkin, owner and chairman of Auberge Resorts Collection. “We are delighted to welcome Mukul to the Auberge portfolio and expand our presence of exceptional resorts in Central America.”
For the athletes, surfing conditions are excellent at Mukul and include a signature left-point wave break right in front of the resort. The resort also offers yoga classes led by an in-house instructor on a treetop yoga pavilion that overlooks the beach.
