How One Spa is Implementing Coloring Books into its Wellness Program

While adult coloring books have become a popular wellness offering at many spas, the folks at Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit (Mexico) have gone a step further and developed their own mandala-themed coloring book. The 56-page book features a variety of mandalas, an ancient and spiritual symbol used to represent the universe and its creation. It’s especially useful for meditation. Mandalas have long been popular at the Spa at Grand Velas, as spa therapists often create them using tropical bougainvillea flowers found throughout the resort to create a sense of harmony, and workshops are available for guests who would like to learn to create their own. The coloring book, which is retailed in the boutique for $35, comes with a set of colored pencils. It is often offered to meeting groups during their breaks as an activity to help de-stress participants and spark creativity. Coloring outside the lines is encouraged.
