The picturesque Bernardus Lodge & Spa (Carmel Valley, CA) recently underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation, the heart of which was an update of Spa at Bernardus. Inspired by the lush surroundings— the property is set amid vineyards and lavender fields—the spa now features a farm-to-treatment table approach in both design and function. Several new services are influenced by the natural beauty of the locale, as well, including a variety of treatments that incorporate lavender; a series of new massages and facials using Éminence Organic Skin Care products; and the re-envisioned Carmel Valley Escape ($560, 5 hours), a ritual that takes a hint from the on-site gardens and includes a Lavender Bliss scrub, a massage, a facial, and a signature manicure and pedicure. Guests can also embrace the great outdoors with a dip in the updated main pool or new fitness programs that include Sunrise Stretch Yoga and alfresco spin classes.
