Golden Door Debuts Guided Imagery in New Bathhouse

Golden Door (San Marcos, CA) is using guided imagery as a therapeutic tool in its newly unveiled bathhouse. Guided imagery is a meditative mental health practice that uses the power of each guest’s own imagination to help them destress, improve performance, focus, manage fatigue, and more. Golden Door partnered with artist and filmmaker Louie Schwartzberg to commission the visual healing space. “In reimagining our Golden Door bathhouse, we were inspired by the research and profound impact of visual healing,” says Kathy Van Ness, COO and general manager of Golden Door. “The research has shown positive effects on health by decreasing anxiety and stress. We reached out to Louie Schwartzberg, whose films of nature, seas, and flowers are in speeds slower than the human eye can see. He created a work of art for us, which is the cornerstone of our visual healing room. It is surrounded by warm bubbling waters, shoji screens, and accents of black bamboo, along with the gentle sounds of traditional Japanese music.”
